Shape, colour, texture, subtle, bold, sensuous, playful- an exploration of the passion and intimacy of paint. I’m exploring vocabulary- soft, deep, fragile…or sensations-the feel of rain on an upturned face. What colour? What shape? I seek interesting junctions and shapes, colours that form relationships.

Mostly, I begin with no subject and follow the paint. It then begins to have a mood, a feeling, and sometimes triggers memories of shapes, experiences or textures. In one painting there could be the feel of sand running through my fingers, then the clink of a teacup in a saucer, a train track… everyday experiences. A richness of memory.
